ECUS Home Visas

Visas

You will need a visa, if you are an International student or someone from outside the European Union (EU), to gain entrance to the UK.

For information and further advice, you should contact the nearest British Embassy/High Commission in your country. You can also visit the website of the Home Office visa section at www.ukvisas.co.uk.

There are a number of organisations that may be able to provide information on getting a visa to come and study in the UK. These include:

British Council:www.britishcouncil.org
UKCISA:www.ukcosa.org.uk

Visa Application

You should apply for your student visa only when:

  1. You have reserved a place on the course by paying 50% of the first year’s tuition fee – see How to Apply
  2. You have arranged your accommodation in the UK and you have given us the full postal address of this accommodation.

Visa Refusal

If for any reason your student visa is refused, you should immediately inform The Bursar. You must now decide whether you want to appeal against the decision of the entry clearance officer. If you wish to appeal, you should complete the appeal form given to you within the time limit specified. We will be happy to provide you with any information to support your appeal.

If you decide not to appeal and wish to have your tuition fee paid refunded, you must write to us asking for a refund and enclose:

  1. the original refusal letter given to you by the British Embassy/High Commission
  2. the original forms to appeal against the entry clearance officer’s decision to refuse
  3. instructions as to whom and how the refund is to be paid (Cheque/Direct Bank Transfer).

Please note: There will be an administrative charge of £200 that will be deducted. We aim to refund your tuition fee paid (less Admin charge) within six weeks of receiving your application for a refund. The application for a refund must accompany original documents as mentioned above. Failure to do so may mean that the refund process will take longer.
