BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF)

HND Diploma in Health and Social CareThe BTEC Nationals in Health and Social Care have been developed in the health and social care sector to provide:

  • education and training for health and social care employees
  • opportunities for health and social care employees to achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally-specific qualification
  • the opportunity for full-time learners to enter employment in the health and social care sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Health and Social Care
  • the opportunity for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

The Diploma is a practical, work-related course.  Your assignments are likely to be based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.  As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will also develop skills you need to start a career.


Course Content
The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care consists of eight mandatory units and three optional units providing a total of 120 credits to be completed in TWO academic years.

  • 2  Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
  • 3  Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care
  • 4  Development Through the Life Stages
  • 5  Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
  • 6  Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care*
  • 7  Sociological Perspectives for Health and Social Care
  • 8  Psychological Perspectives for Health and Social Care
     


Specialist Units (all modules are indicative and may change)

  • 12 Public Health
  • 23 Complimentary Therapies
  • 44 Vocational Experience for Health and Social Care**

* Unit 6: Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care requires 100 hours of work
experience to be completed.

** Unit 44: Vocational Experience for Health and Social Care requires 100 hours of work experience to be completed in addition to the 100 hours required for Unit 6. 


Entry Requirements

  • 17. 5 GCSE subjects at grade C or above, preferably including maths and English
     
  • 18. BTEC First Diploma with Merit or Distinction. 
     
  • 19. Mature students are invited to apply, regardless of qualifications.
     
  • 20. International students must have IELTS Band 5.5
     

Commencement
Courses commence every: September/October, January/February and July
