Parents/Guardians have an opportunity to have their siblings (Boy/Girl) educated in a small grammar school to a British standard. At ECUS, international students can commence their education programme at any one of the following stages

![]() At Ealing College Upper School we offer a wide range of subjects so as to provide students a good breadth of disciplines within their chosen programme. At Ealing College Upper School the path to your GCSE course commences at year 9 (age 14) where you will follow a common curriculum. In years 10 and 11 pupils follow a course leading to the Key Stage 4 GCSE examinations usually in 9 or 10 subjects, some of which are optional. At ECUS pupils study English, Maths, a foreign language (French or Spanish or Mandarin) and two or three sciences (from Chemistry, Physics and Biology). In order to study a balanced curriculum, pupils chose a “Social” subject; and either Art, Music; or a technical subject (e.g. Business studies); plus another subject. Other GCSE Courses ONE YEAR INTENSIVE COURSES This one year course is designed for able students who wish to economise on the time it normally takes to complete a GCSE course. In the past, students who have come to ECUS choose between five or six subjects to do on this demanding one year course. Students who have not followed a GCSE course before but wish to pursue the one year course may do so but only after presenting previous qualifications for consideration and or an interview to assess whether the candidate is able to cope with the workload and the corresponding coursework. GCE A Level - Sixth FormSubjects Available for Study in the Sixth Form Students usually study Four subjects in the first year, leading to GCE AS qualifications taken at the end of the first year. Students then drop one of these subjects and take Three to full A-level at the end of the second year. It is also sometimes possible for students to take an extra AS subject in the second year. There is no restriction over choice of subject. Virtually any combination is possible. One year intensive GCE A level course A one year intensive course is available to able students who can demonstrate that they can cope with the workload and the corresponding coursework required. Entry Requirements GCSE Courses Students must have completed primary education in their respective country and be proficient in the English language to the extent that they are able to follow a course of their choice ECUS. GCE A level courses Students must have completed a course equivalent to GCSE level in their respective country and be proficient in the English language to the extent that they are able to follow a course of their choice at ECUS. |
